Tracy Ayling QC and Allan Compton prosecuted Bradley Blundell for the murder of John Pordage in an 18 day trial at Woolwich Crown Court. In the early hours of 5th August 2017, Blundell, who was 17 at the time, shot Mr. Pordage with a home-made handgun following an argument at a BP garage in Chelmsford.
Blundell fled to Europe in the aftermath before being extradited in May of this year. At trial he sought to blame a co-accused who had been acquitted of being a secondary party at a trial earlier this year at Chelmsford Crown Court. Both Blundell, and Ella Colgate, previously a prosecution witness, were also convicted of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice having unsuccessfully tried to persuade another witness to change her evidence at the second trial.
