Instructed by Ibrahim Hussein, of Londonium solicitors, Barry represented S – one of 19 defendants facing 32 counts of fraud and assisting illegal immigration. The accused had, collectively, produced false education documents – some from fictitious colleges – which were traced by immigration officers and exposed as being used to secure UK visas. At the close of the prosecution case, which lasted 3 weeks, submissions took place over 3 days on the basis that the documents were not provably false and did not assist in securing visas. S faced three counts of fraud and conspiracy to assist illegal immigration but the Judge found there was no case for him to answer.
