Simeon has a busy practice across all areas of criminal law, including serious violence, drugs, firearms, fraud, and sexual offences. He has experience in proceedings involving abuse of process and public interest immunity, and in sensitive cases involving young and vulnerable witnesses.
Outside crime, Simeon accepts instructions for both regulators and registrants across several professions and at each stage of the disciplinary process. He also has considerable experience of road traffic proceedings, particularly involving exceptional hardship and special reasons.
Simeon has a busy Crown Court practice and has experience in the Court Martial and the Court of Appeal.
R v MD, Snaresbrook Crown Court
MD was acquitted of drug supply and money laundering. He faced evidence including police observations, phone analysis, and fingerprints on bags containing several kilograms of cocaine and a shoebox which held £100,000 cash.
R v GW, Chelmsford Crown Court
Led by Craig Rush in a two-week murder trial in which the defendant was unanimously acquitted of murder and manslaughter.
R v HD, Maidstone Crown Court
HD was unanimously acquitted of rape following a four-day trial. Both defendant and complainant were vulnerable teenagers, though HD was 19 and the complainant 14. HD received a suspended sentence.
R v OS, Basildon Crown Court
OS was acquitted of affray and assault following a successful submission of no case to answer.
R v CC, Catterick Court Martial Centre (Appeal)
Simeon’s written argument prompted the Service Prosecuting Authority to abandon its opposition to CC’s appeal, accepting at a late stage that orders which CC accepted contravening were contrary to domestic law.
R v ZL, St Albans Crown Court
ZL was unanimously acquitted of s.18 GBH. He denied involvement in the stabbing of the complainant, who identified him having known him for some years.
R v KG, Basildon Crown Court
Simeon persuaded the CPS to offer no evidence on the first day of the trial, having obtained expert evidence which undermined the telephone data said to demonstrate KG’s involvement in supplying class A drugs.
R v AG, Catterick Court Martial Centre
AG, a serving officer, was acquitted of two counts of s.18 GBH after a five-day trial. Self-defence successful despite CCTV showing AG challenging others to a fight shortly before the incident.
R v GD, Maidstone Crown Court
GD was unanimously acquitted of sexual assault after a four-day trial in which he had not given evidence.
R v SM, Aylesbury Crown Court
SM was charged with harassment and assault. Careful disclosure requests established that the complainant had fabricated evidence and the prosecution were forced to offer no evidence on the day of trial.
R v DF, Cambridge Crown Court
Led by Craig Rush in an eight-week trial on charges including cannabis production, firearms and perverting the course of justice.
Simeon is a Grade 2 prosecutor and acts in the Crown Court on behalf of the CPS and Probation Service. He also has experience as a disclosure junior and conducting LPP review exercises for prosecuting agencies.
Simeon appears regularly as a case presenter in substantive hearings for the Nursing and Midwifery Council. He completed a secondment with the NMC in 2024 dealing with the regulator’s more complex matters. He has previously advised in proceedings brought by the General Optical Council and accepts instructions for registrants and regulators across a range of professions.
