Elspeth Windsor has developed a successful practice in the Crown, Magistrates’ and Youth Courts, since joining Chambers as a tenant in April 2025, following the successful completion of her pupillage.

Elspeth defends in a wide range of criminal cases, and she has particular expertise in upholding the rights of vulnerable and marginalised individuals, including victims of modern slavery, those with mental health challenges and young people. Elspeth also has a keen interest and experience in the burgeoning area of criminalised immigration offences.

Elspeth accepts instructions in regulatory and professional disciplinary matters.

Elspeth has an academic background as a Masters and Doctoral Scholar at the Faculty of Law, University of Oxford. Elspeth’s DPhil thesis considers the intersection between the rule of law, due process and the criminalisation of immigration offences (‘Crimmigration’).

She continues to work as an academic researcher with field leading academics and a number of NGO’s.

Elspeth has a number of published works and maintains her affiliations with various research projects at the Faculty of Law, University of Oxford.

Outside of court, Elspeth volunteers extensively with legal outreach initiatives. She works closely with the Kalisher Trust supporting those with ‘exceptional promise but limited means’ as an appointed ECG member and lead mentoring co-ordinator.
