Aska Fujita is an experienced and sought-after barrister, specialising in complex and highly technical matters, who is instructed by the prosecution and defence in serious and high profile cases.
Aska often appears in hugely detailed cases involving huge quantities of evidence. She is meticulous in her preparation and is skilled in identifying and distilling the critical evidence from large quantities of notes and case material. Aska is equally adept in presenting expert or technical evidence clearly and succinctly to a jury.
Aska has particular expertise in bribery and corruption, corporate crime, financial crime and proceeds of crime cases where her fluency in finance and attention to detail are particular assets. She is on the SFO Prosecution counsel list as well as the CPS specialist fraud list, and has experience of defending in serious fraud and financial crime prosecutions including those brought by the FCA.
Aska is a native Japanese speaker and has given seminars on UK constitutional and criminal law to Japanese lawyers, judges, prosecutors and MPs.

Glencore
Instructed by the SFO as junior in the prosecution of six former Glencore employees charged with conspiring to make corrupt payments to benefit Glencore’s oil operations in West Africa.
R v M & others
Representing the lead defendant in a £5 million investment fraud prosecution brought by the FCA. The allegation relates to the trading in Contracts for Difference (CFDs) and involves complex expert evidence and huge quantities of evidence.
Op Murec
Instructed by the CPS in the prosecution of a complex phishing fraud with three defendants (currently). The estimated value of the fraud is over £3 million.

Defence counsel in a six-handed trial at the Bailey involving charges of planting a fake bomb in Gray’s Inn and money laundering.
Op Atoll
Instructed by CPS in relation to prosecution of seven defendants charged with carrying out a string of cash-in-transit robberies armed with firearms. The case involved substantial cell-site evidence.

Prosecuted nine-handed trial at Harrow Crown Court of defendants were charged with controlling prostitution and Modern Slavery Act offences, and supply of drugs.

Prosecuted 18 defendants at Southwark Crown Court charged with violent disorder during the ‘Free Tommy Robinson’ demonstration.

Op Towchester – Defended in a six-handed trial at Inner London Crown Court relating to a £3.5 million conspiracy to supply drugs.
Acted as junior counsel to the Inquest in a five-week inquest in Maidstone concerning the death of an armed suspect who was shot dead by police during an arrest operation. The issue was whether the killing was lawful or not.
