Ashraf Khan was instructed by Nicola Smith, Associate in the Police, Care & Justice Team at DWF Law LLP, to represent the Metropolitan Police Service in an application for a Full Premises Closure Order.
The application concerned licensed premises that had become associated with persistent anti-social behaviour, drug supply, and criminal activity. The case involved multi-agency evidence from the police, local authority, and community safety partners, supported by intelligence reports and resident complaints. The court granted the Closure Order following submissions on admissibility and weight of hearsay evidence under the Magistrates’ Courts (Hearsay Evidence in Civil Proceedings) Rules 1999 and Civil Evidence Act 1995 and the necessity, reasonableness, and proportionality of the order to protect the public and prevent further disorder.
This outcome provides a practical and immediate remedy to protect the community, disrupt criminality, and support the ongoing partnership work of the Metropolitan Police and the Council.
Ashraf regularly acts in closure order applications and related proceedings, bringing extensive experience in public protection, regulatory law, and police law to deliver effective solutions in complex, high-impact cases.
