Archangelo Power represented YB, who faced charges of GBH with intent and being in possession of a bladed article.
YB was seen on CCTV brandishing a 13 inch kitchen knife at the complainant, who received a 3 inch deep cut to their hand, requiring hospitalisation and sutures. YB asserted that he was acting in self-defence.
From careful analysis of shadows on the wall as seen on the CCTV, Archangelo was able to demonstrate that, contrary to the evidence of the complainant and four other witnesses, the complainant was also carrying a knife (albeit the knife could not be seen on the CCTV). Following representations, the prosecution reviewed the case and offered no evidence against YB and verdicts of not guilty were entered.
Archangelo was instructed by Miss Aysha Moore of Paul Robinson Solicitors.
