Anand was instructed in a commercial appeal for two Netherlands based companies seeking enforcement of a judgment debt they had obtained in the High Court. The companies’ efforts in seeking payment of the debt had been thwarted by objections made in intervening family proceedings, which prevented the sale of a property ordered to be sold to pay the debt. Anand led Cathryn Sutcliffe in successfully arguing that the rights of the appellant creditors should prevail and that the companies’ registered judgment not only created security over the property, but also counted as part of the process of execution. They were instructed by Messrs Richard Sirjoo and Co (Trinidad).
