Anand Beharrylal KC appears in HBO Max documentary: BOOM BOX Beats and Betrayal

Anand Beharrylal KC appears in HBO Max’s new documentary, BOOM BOX Beats and Betrayal. The documentary explores the 2008 events at the Boom Box, a record shop / recording studio in the London Borough of Enfield. Boom Box was staffed by undercover police officers who were interested in firearms and gang activity in the area. The series follows the experiences of a number of young men who became involved with the studio, and the subsequent criminal prosecutions that arose.

The documentary presents a range of perspectives on the operation, including the accounts of those involved, the approach taken by law enforcement, and the legal challenges that followed. Issues considered include the extent to which the operation was justified and the arguments raised at trial concerning entrapment. 

Anand Beharrylal KC, who was instructed by Oya Suleyman of EBR Attridge Solicitors, represented two of the young men charged with serious offences, challenging the methods used and arguing that there had been entrapment by the police.
