EB, a commercial driver, was originally charged with 4 counts of causing death by dangerous driving and 4 counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving arising from a horrific collision on the M25 in August 2021 when his HGV collided with the rear of a stationary mini bus.
At trial, the prosecution were persuaded to accept pleas to the lesser offence of causing death by careless driving when the prosecution expert collision investigator changed her evidence. In July 2024 EB was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment concurrent on each offence. That sentence was reduced on this appeal to 18 months, meaning EB has effectively served his sentence.
Alex Stein represented EB throughout the proceedings.
