Alex Stein prosecuted FF9 Limited for health and safety offences following a serious brain injury to a stunt worker on set at Warner Brother Studios during the filming of a sequence for Fast and Furious 9 in 2019. JW fell 25 feet, headfirst onto a concrete floor when the mallion on his safety line failed. Secondary fall protection was incorrectly sited at ground level.
The Court accepted the prosecution submissions that FF9 fell into the large company bracket of the guideline despite diminishing turnover in recent years. A fine of £800,000 plus costs was imposed at Luton Magistrates’ Court on 24th November 2023 following an earlier guilty plea.
