After an extraordinary 40 years as Senior Clerk, John Grimmer will be retiring from active clerking at the end of this year, although we are delighted to say that he will be continuing to work with Chambers as a consultant.
John has been described by the Chambers & Partners legal directory as “a living legend” and “an all-round god-like figure. He deserves and gets that level of respect.” The Legal 500 directory commented this year that “nobody has done it for longer than John Grimmer and nobody has better judgement or more contacts.” In John’s case, such descriptions are entirely deserved.
John played a vital role in helping turn Chambers into the leading Criminal set that it now is, and has helped guide the careers of countless members of Chambers from pupillage through to silk and beyond.
We are all hugely grateful to John, and we wish him a happy, healthy and well-deserved retirement.
We are delighted to announce that from 1 January 2025, Paul Rodgers will be taking over as our new Senior Clerk. Paul has been a clerk in Chambers for 27 years, and has been Deputy Senior Clerk for more than 10 years.
Chambers is also delighted to announce that, from 1 January 2025, Graham Briggs will be joining Chambers as our new Deputy Senior Clerk.
We wish Paul and Graham every success in their new roles, and look forward to continuing to offer our clients the exceptional service for which Chambers is known.
