Clarets working hard on the training ground

Ahead of the next game of their tour of Singapore, Burnley's players have taken to the training pitch to continue their fitness work.

In temperatures up over 30C and with 90% humidity it's hard physical work.

But assistant manager Russ Wilcox has been telling Dan Jewell that they started today's session with a 6 kilometre run!

Tour begins with win

20/07/10 - Gombak United 0 Burnley 5

Burnley have won the opening game of their tour of Singapore.

The Clarets ran out 5-0 victors against local side Gombak United thanks to goals from Ross Wallace, Chris Eagles, Chris Iwelumo, Steven Thompson and Jay Rodriguez.

It was Iwelumo's first goal in Claret and he's been telling 2BR Sport's Gina Millson that he's delighted:

Clarets train in Singapore

The Burnley squad have trained for the first time in their Singapore training base ahead of the friendly with Gombak United.

The Clarets flew to the Far East over the weekend and will play three matches in the time they are there.

Eagles to stay at Turf

Chris Eagles has turned down a move to Rangers after failing to agree personal terms with the Glasgow outfit.

The Clarets had accepted what they called a "substantial bid", believed to be over £2 million, for the winger.

Manager Brian Laws spoke to the 24-year-old about staying in East Lancashire and he decided not to head north of the border.

Eagles only has one year remaining on his current contract.

Burnley made it two pre-season wins in three days with a 2-1 result at Oldham. After falling behind early on, late goals from Steven Thompson and Leon Cort gave the Clarets the victory.

10/07/10 - Bury 0 Burnley 3

Burnley's pre-season campaign is up and running after a 3-0 win over Bury at Gigg Lane.

Steven Thompson, summer signing Ross Wallace and Chris Eagles were on target for the Clarets.

Wallace started the game, with fellow new faces Chris Iwelumo and Dean Marney introduced after the break

Marney wants Clarets to "bounce back"

Ahead of Burnley's pre-season programme beginning with friendlies against Bury and Oldham, new signing Dean Marney has been speaking to 2BR Sport.

The midfielder joined from Hull earlier in the season and has been telling Dan Jewell that he's settling in well:

Burnley's summer spending continued last week with the capture of Preston winger Ross Wallace for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old penned a three-year-deal at Turf Moor on Friday.

2BR are the first radio station to speak to him and he's been telling Dan Jewell that the move was a surprise to him:

Clarets start against Forest

The fixtures for the new season have been announced and Burnley can now begin plotting their return to the Premier League.

The Clarets return to Championship action at home to Brian Laws' former club Nottingham Forest on August 7th.

They host Preston at Turf Moor on September 11th, before trips to Millwall, Sheffield United and QPR in October.

The festive season brings a trip to Barnsley on Boxing Day and home ties with Scunthorpe and the Blades on December 28th and January 1st.

Laws' side make the return trip to Deepdale on February 26th, and will hope to have promotion wrapped up before the last three games of the campaign against potentially dangerous foes Portsmouth, Leeds and Cardiff.

Coleman feeling positive

21/07/10 - Stanley 1 Blackpool 2

Despite defeat to Blackpool in their opening game of the Joma Southwest Tournament, Stanley boss John Coleman says he's upbeat ahead of their next game against non-league Bideford Town.

The Reds have just over a fortnight until League Two kicks off and are running the rule over a number of trialists in Devon.

Coleman's been telling Dan Jewell that he was pleased with what he saw against the Seasiders:

Reds Return

Stanley's players have returned to training as they begin preparations for the new League Two season that begins in just over five weeks.

A number of familiar faces have left the Crown Ground during the summer, but new acquisitions Craig Lindfield and Michael Hall both joined their new team mates to be put through their pre-season paces.

Boss John Coleman's been telling Dan Jewell that he's enjoyed his summer break and is raring to go:

Stanley fixtures revealed...

Accrington Stanley begin their League Two campaign against Aldershot Town and have a local derby with Macclesfield Town a fortnight later.

Another derby, at Bury, comes around in October with November bringing a first ever trip to Southend.

The Reds play host to Crewe on Boxing Day and head to Morecambe on January 1st. The return Lancashire derby is a month later.

The Stanley team coach will clock up plenty of miles in February and March with away trips to Stevenage, Wycombe, Lincoln, Gillingham and Aldershot.

Their season ends away at Burton Albion on May 7th.
