Clarets Out-Gunned
Arsenal 3 Burnley 1
Burnley were beaten but not disgraced by title-chasing Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
The Clarets started the game well, but went behind in the 34th minute when Cesc Fabregas picked out Samir Nasri and raced onto the Frenchman's lofted pass before firing a shot through the legs of Brian Jensen.
But though the form book might have suggested otherwise the visitors didn't capitulate and it was only 1-0 at the break.
And Brian Laws got an immediate response to his team talk when David Nugent equalised after just five second half minutes. Emmanuel Eboue tried to clear his lines, but saw Leon Cort head the ball back into the danger area. On-loan Nugent reacted quickest to race between two defenders and lod Arsenal keeper Manuel Almunia.
Unfortunately the Clarets were only level for ten minutes. Theo Walcott was the man that gave the home side their second, cutting in from the right to beat Jensen.
Gunners striker Nicklas Bendtner was then guilty of missing a number of good chances and on another day might have been made to pay. With full time approaching, Almunia flapped at a Danny Fox free kick but sub Steven Thompson could only shoot over the bar.
Another sub had the final say; Andrey Arshavin shooting beyond Jensen from a tight angle in the 94th minute to make it 3-1.
Burnley boss Brian Laws says that despite the defeat he's got plenty to be happy about:
Burnley Beaten By Basement Boys
27/02/10 - Burnley 1 Portsmouth 2
Burnley remain in the Premier League relegation places after they slumped to defeat against crisis club Portsmouth at Turf Moor.
The Clarets fell behind after 25 minutes: Danny Webber's cross from the right met by Frederic Piquionne who slammed it home from close range.
Martin Paterson marked his first start of 2010 with his second ever top flight goal six minutes later. Steven Fletcher flicked on a clearance from goalkeeper Brian Jensen and Paterson hooked the ball over David James from outside the area.
Before the break Jamie O'Hara hit the crossbar for the visitors and Webber was only denied the rebound by a terrific block from Danny Fox..
In the second half, the Clarets were in debt to Jensen when he saved O'Hara's penalty after Clarke Carlisle had fouled Piquionne. But they couldn't capitalise, with Fletcher heading over just minutes later.
When referee Mark Clattenburg pointed to the spot for the second time after Carlisle tangled with sub John Utaka, Jensen couldn't repeat his heroics and was sent the wrong way by Hassan Yebda.
Even the dismissal of Pompey's Ricardo Rocha near the end couldn't tip the balance in Burnley's favour and they ended up with nothing from an important game.
Boss Brian Laws felt they deserved at least a point:
Jensen is Burnley's longest serving player and believes his team mates need to get their heads round the defeat and move on:
26/02/10 - Laws Looks Ahead To Pompey
Burnley host Portsmouth this weekend just 24 hours after Pompey became the first Premier League club ever to go into administration.
Three points are a must for the Clarets who are looking to climb out of the relegation places.
But boss Brian Laws admits he's not sure how the visitors will react to their plight:
Clarets Beaten In Topsy-Turvy Affair
21/02/10 - Aston Villa 5 Burnley 2
Burnley are still without a win away from home in the top flight despite leading at Villa Park.
Steven Fletcher put the Clarets in front from close range in the first half, but the scores were level at half time after Ashley Young's free kick flew straight in.
But everything went wrong for Brian Laws' side in 12 second half minutes as the home team scored four times to put the result beyond doubt: Stewart Downing (twice), Emile Heskey and Gabriel Agbonlahor hitting the net.
Martin Paterson grabbed a late consolation to notch his first ever goal in the Premier League.
After the game, Laws spoke to 2BR Sport's Dave Pollard:
Away Form Continues To Frustrate
09/02/10 - Fulham 3 Burnley 0
Burnley are still without a Premier League away win after slumping to defeat at Craven Cottage.
The opening exchanges were open, but once Fulham skipper Danny Murphy had fired them in front the home side were in control.
David Elm added a second before the break and Bobby Zamora's second half free kick sealed the three points.
The Clarets were below par, but boss Brian Laws thinks that bad decisions cost them:
The Wait Is Over!
06/02/10 - Burnley 2 West Ham United 1
Burnley finally moved off the twenty point mark in the Premier League with a win over West Ham at Turf Moor.
David Nugent opened the scoring in the first half when he lobbed Robert Green to send the home fans wild and debutant Danny Fox added a goal on his debut after the break to put them two in front.
The Hammers halved the deficit late on through substitute Ilan, but the Clarets held on to pick up their first league win since October.
Boss Brian Laws admits it's a weight off their shoulders:
05/02/10 - Laws Looks Ahead To Hammers Test
Burnley will be out to end their winless run when they tackle West Ham at Turf Moor this weekend.
The Clarets haven't tasted victory in the Premier League since October and have slipped into the relegation places.
They were encouraged by their performance against Chelsea last week and boss Brian Laws reckons this match is an even tougher prospect than that:
01/02/10 - New Signings Speak To 2BR
Burnley have unveiled two of their newest signings at Turf Moor.
Danny Fox signed from Celtic on Friday for an undisclosed fee and has penned a three and a half year contract.
He's been telling 2BR Sport's Dan Jewell that he's been keeping a close eye on how the Clarets have been doing so far:
Joining the Scotland international is Jack Cork, who has signed on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old midfielder has already had spells at a string of Championship clubs.
Now he says he's ready to make the step up to the Premier League:
David Nugent is the third signing made by Brian Laws; the striker will now stay on loan at Turf Moor until the end of the season after a deal was agreed with his parent club Portsmouth.
Laws Taking Positives Despite Defeat
30/01/10 - Burnley 1 Chelsea 2
Burnley's wait for a Premier League win will now go into a fourth month after they were beaten 2-1 by leaders Chelsea at Turf Moor.
Nicolas Anelka opened the scoring for the visitors against the run of play in the first half, but his strike was cancelled out by a superb strike from Steven Fletcher after the break.
But John Terry headed a late winner to ensure that the points were heading back to the capital.
It was a frustrating way for the game to end, but Burnley boss Brian Laws says he's pleased with the majority of what he saw:
Laws The Man For Clarets
13/01/10
Brian Laws is the new Burnley manager after being handed a two and a half year deal to replace Owen Coyle at Turf Moor.
The 48-year-old beat off competition from Doncaster's Sean O'Driscoll to get the job and will take charge for the first time at Manchester United on Saturday.
The former Clarets player had been out of work since leaving Sheffield Wednesday and admits that the timing of Coyle's departure was perfect for him:
25/02/10 - Coleman Eyeing Playoffs
Stanley can climb into the League Two playoff places if they defeat Torquay this weekend.
The Reds are tenth in the table ahead of the trip to Plaimoor, but are only two points adrift of the all-important seventh spot.
Manager John Coleman isn't getting too carried away by the league table:
Reds Get Back To Winning Ways
20/02/10 - Stanley 2 Bradford City 0
Stanley ended their winless run with victory over Bradford City as they ruined Peter Taylor's first game in charge of the Bantams.
A disappointing first period brought few chances and it was 0-0 at the break, but in the second half the Reds did enough to win the game.
John Miles did the damage, scoring his first brace since signing for the club.
Boss John Coleman is delighted with the way the whole team played:
Reds Robbed By Imps
16/02/10 - Lincoln City 2 Stanley 1
Accrington Stanley have slipped to 13th in League Two after losing against Lincoln City.
The Reds took the lead through Bobby Grant and had a number of chances to double their advantage, but Steven Lennon fired the home side level on 83 minutes.
And John Coleman's side were consigned to defeat by Darran Kempson's stoppage time own goal which made it three games without a win.
At full time, Coleman told 2BR Sport's Dan Jewell that he couldn't believe they'd lost:
Reds Stumble Against Silkmen
13/02/10 - Macclesfield Town 0 Stanley 0
Accrington Stanley's playoff push hit another bump after they drew 0-0 at Macclesfield.
In an uninspiring game the Reds started well, with Bobby Grant proving to be a threat, but John Coleman's side didn't create enough clear chances to win.
In fact the home team came closest to breakng the deadlock when they twice hit the woodwork.
Coleman thinks it's a missed opportunity:
12/02/10 - Reds Look To Bounce Back
Accrington Stanley head to Macclesfield Town this weekend looking to get back to winning ways after their midweek defeat at Northampton.
The Reds are tenth in League Two after the loss, but are still well and truly in the playoff race.
They have a good record against the Silkmen with four wins from six games.
And manager John Coleman says everyone in the camp is determined to bounce back:
Winning Run Ends
09/02/10 - Northampton Town 4 Stanley 0
Accrington Stanley's run of three consecutive wins was ended at Sixfields by Northampton Town.
The Reds fell behind early to a goal from Adebayo Akinfenwa and a second half brace from Billy McKay and one from Luke Guttridge completed the rout.
Reds Triumph In Derby
06/02/10 - Stanley 3 Morecambe 2
Accrington Stanley maintained their fantastic recent record against local rivals Morecambe with a 3-2 win at the Crown Ground.
John Coleman's men were twice behind in a thrilling encounter to goals from David Artell, but on both occasions Bobby Grant conjured up an equaliser to get them back on terms.
The striker's first was a rebound after Michael Symes had been denied and his second an excellent free kick from the edge of the Morecambe D.
But Jimmy Ryan upstaged his prolific team mate with the winner when he produced a spectacular volley in the 83rd minute to win the game for Stanley.
Coleman thinks it's another big win for his team:
05/02/10 - Reds Ready For Lancashire Derby
Accrington Stanley host Morecambe this weekend and manager John Coleman wants them to continue their domination over the Shrimps.
The Reds haven't lost to their neighbours in five years and could be within touching distance of the League Two playoffs with three points this time around.
Coleman's been telling Dan Jewell that the secret to derby success is very simple:
Reds Take All Three Points As Tame Shrews Flounder
30/01/10 - Shrewsbury Town 0 Stanley 1
Accrington Stanley continued their terrific league run with a 1-0 win over fellow promotion chasers Shrewsbury at the New Meadow.
Bobby Grant's 13th goal of the season proved to be the difference between the teams, but the Reds could and should have won by more.
The striker netted in the 26th minute, prompting a spell of concerted pressure that brought a number of strong penalty appeals.
Even the dismissal of Captain Andy Procter towards the end couldn't stop John Coleman's side, who made it six wins from seven league games.
It's the first time the Reds have won in Shropshire and Coleman is well aware of how important it is to break new ground:
Reds Set Up Glamour Tie
19/01/10 - Stanley 1 Gillingham 0
Accrington Stanley will play Fulham in the fourth round of the FA Cup after beating Gillingham 1-0.
John Miles scored the only goal of the game to give the Reds the win over the League One side.
It's the furthest they've ever got in the competition, and boss John Coleman admits it's one of the biggest achievements of his ten years in charge:

Pascal Chimbonda extended the home side's lead, but after the break the Clarets rallied and Chris Eagles set up a frantic finish with a goal in stoppage time.
Manager Owen Coyle says he's frustrated by the goals they conceded:
