Seeing why speed is the biggest killer on Lancashire's roads.

2BR reporter Chris has seen first-hand the tragic consequences of driving too fast on his patrol with Lancashire Road Police.

As it came towards the shift of the shift - the officer with Chris got a call to a hit and run in Fleetwood.

Sadly, the man involved was killed at the scene as he went for a walk with his wife.

They were out celebrating her birthday.

In just one moment her world had come crumbling down as his life had been cruelly taken by someone speeding.

Hear Chris' report from the scene here:

Now one in three deaths on our county's roads are caused by speeding.

It's not just someone weaving in-and-out of traffic as they hurtle down the M65 that puts lives in danger.

Doing over 30mph in a residential area where cars are parked on both sides of the street can be just as lethal.

Speed limits aren't always the safest speed and it's always best to stay at a speed you feel safe.
