Danny Ings is back

Burnley FC

7:37am 17th October 2014

Sean Dyche expects to have Danny Ings, Kieran Trippier, David Jones and Nathaniel Chalobah all available for selection ahead of Saturday’s visit of West Ham United to Turf Moor.

However, Dyche also had bad news to report as he revealed that Matthew Taylor needs an operation on his injured Achilles that will sideline him for a period of time.
Ings (hamstring), Jones (calf) and Chalobah (throat) all missed at least one of the last three games, while Trippier was stretchered off the pitch at the end of Burnley’s away match at Leicester City a fortnight ago.

However, all four have come through this week’s training unscathed and should be back in contention as the Clarets will be looking to build on a well-earned point at the King Power Stadium and record their first Premier League win of the season.

Meanwhile, England under-21 international Michael Keane is also expected to be fit for the weekend. However, the game is likely to come too soon for Dean Marney (hamstring) and Steven Reid (groin) who continue their respective recoveries.

The Burnley manager ran through the injury news at his pre-match press conference today, revealing: “Danny Ings has had a good week with us, which we’re pleased about.

“He managed to get out on the grass at the beginning of the week and we thought that it was important to give him a full week’s training which he’s had, so he definitely comes into our thinking.

“Kieran Trippier has had a good couple of days with us and he comes back to contention, too.

“David Jones will be fit and we’re pretty pleased with his comeback from injury and we’re pretty sure on his inclusion into the squad.

“Chalobah is also back in contention and Keane is something out of nothing really, something he’s had before, so we think it’s a minor thing. We’re hopeful he’ll be at least in with the squad.

“Dean Marney is touch and go, though, this one may be a bit too quick for him, but he’s been active this week and Steven Reid has a minor groin injury.”

Regarding Taylor, Dyche refused to put a timescale on the midfielder’s absence, adding: “Matty is unfortunately going to have a minor operation (on Monday).

“He’s got a niggling Achilles and it hasn’t settled down.

“It’s nothing too serious in the grand scheme of things, but it’s still something that is niggling – a bit of a small bony area at the back of his Achilles which is irritating it.”
