The 2BR Local Hero Awards in association with Mainline return for 2010 to honour those people who go the extra mile.

We want to recognise the unsung heroes of East Lancashire.

We have partnered together with local businesses to bring this prestigious event to you for its 8th year.

Child Of Courage Award with Charter Walk

Hannah Walmsley was diagnosed with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia after turning 14 and has endured many operations. She's raised over a thousand pounds for  the hospital that treats her.

 

Young Person Award with M3Project

Craig Adams is a fine example of why we shouldn't believe news reports telling us that all teenagers are no-good tearaways. He thinks of others and puts their interests ahead of his.

 

Heart of Gold with Burnley Gold Exchange


Ashlie-Louise Thomas took the role of carer to her partner's family when their mother died. She also cared for her boyfriend when he was hit by depression and still managed to attend University.

 

Good Neighbour Award with Pendle Community Safety Partnership

David Clegg and Jack Robinson saved their neighbour's life.

 

Entrepreneur Award with Pennine Lancashire Enterprise Trust

Ben Blackburn turned a dream into a hugely successful enterprise by the tender age of 23.

 

Volunteer of the Year Award with Keepmoat Homes Ltd

Brian Parker has a family and runs a pub 7 days a week and still manages to cycle from Bordeaux to Burnley, do a triathlon, climb Everest and much more all to aid Pendleside Hospice.

 

Bravery Award with Crown Cabinets

Denver Luke Fay is only three years old and has already endured ten brain operations yet still remains a sunny, cheeky little lad.

 

Public Service Award with Walker Farrimond.

Bill Ogden is a Community Support Officer in Burnley Wood and goes above and beyond the call of duty to help make residents feel safe. He's also raised a lot of money for charity and educates children in personal safety.

 

Health Professional Award with Abbey Gisburne Park Hospital

Joanne Horrocks shows true commitment care and compassion whilst carrying out her work.

 

Employee Award with Calico Enterprise

John Alderson has set up a service that saves Burnley's partygoers from a long trip to Blackburn Hospital and stops ambulances being inundated with more calls than they can manage.
